Tucker Prophet and his men are running down a killer, and have been for months. The outlaw, Billy Farren, made a fatal mistake. During a stage hold-up, Jack Prophet, Tucker’s younger brother and only surviving family member, was shot to death. Now Tucker has nothing to lose. The crime takes a back seat to vengeance and the Texas Ranger will chase Farren through and beyond the gates of hell to see him pay for that killing.

The trail leads to the mountains of central Colorado, where a father’s incautious moment, a trusted friend’s indiscretion and a daughter’s naïve and foolish mistake, set the stage for a peaceful mountain valley to become the scene of death and danger for all that live there.
